January 2021

2021 has started and as we close out January and head into February it has already been quite the whirlwind of a year!

Just a few weeks ago we lost a man who was a bright light in our community. Mr. Ed Shinner was a remarkably generous man who made a huge difference in our community, especially in the lives of our students. In honor of him we have set up a #GiveLikeEd Memorial Scholarship fund here at WWVA. Ed has helped by providing financial assistance to 12 students and we want to continue his legacy! With that being said, we are raising $200,000 in order to establish a permanent scholarship fund in his name.

As always, we are incredibly blessed to have been able to hold in-person classes for our kids throughout this pandemic and are even doubly blessed that we have been able to hold our banquet this year as well! Although, it might look different from banquets past, we are counting our blessings and thankful that we were able to hold one at all.

One of our seniors, Jessica M. got to lead out in our Friday night Bible study this month as we explored Ecclesiastes 7.

All in all, we are looking forward to what this new year will bring and we hope that you follow us along on the journey through our social media accounts and here on our blog!

Happy February!
